Job summary

Koch Business Solutions, LP is seeking an Electrical Estimator to develop accurate, detailed estimates for utility-scale solar and battery storage projects and to improve estimating processes. The role collaborates across functions to drive competitive, high-quality outcomes and long-term growth in renewables.

The position involves refining estimating templates, maintaining productivity data, and supporting bid strategies with cross-functional teams nationwide. Remote options within the U.S.

Qualifications

• Experience in large electrical commercial, renewable energy, utility-scale solar construction, or related fields.
• Knowledge of cost estimating best practices and estimating tools or software, such as Accubid, InEight, or similar platforms.
• Proficiency with takeoff software (Bluebeam) and ability to interpret complex project documentation.
• Strong understanding of project complexities and construction management principles.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and refine estimating processes.

Responsibilities

• Refine electrical estimating processes and templates to improve accuracy and efficiency, capturing best construction practices, productivity data, and crew resource requirements for solar and BESS work.
• Develop, refine, and maintain project cost estimates aligned with RFP requirements for utility-scale solar and battery storage projects, from conceptual estimates through advanced design packages.
• Maintain a database of applicable means and methods, components, and associated productivity rates.
• Collaborate with business development, engineering, procurement, operations, and project delivery teams to develop winning bid strategies and optimize project costs.
• Identify project risks and assist in developing mitigation strategies to enhance estimate reliability and competitiveness.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, client discussions, and leadership updates.
• Conduct site visits as needed and prepare detailed reports that improve estimate accuracy and project planning.
