Job summary

Engineered Structures, Inc. seeks an Electrical Estimator to support proposal activities, produce accurate cost estimates, and coordinate with subcontractors. The role requires strong industrial electrical experience including LV/MV distribution, switchgear, transformers, SCADA, and PLC controls.

You will analyze drawings, prepare cost summaries, and assist in prebid activities. The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree in construction management or equivalent experience, 5+ years estimating

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or equivalent estimating experience.
• 5+ years estimating industrial electrical systems (LV/MV, SCADA, PLC).
• Working knowledge of NEC and electrical equipment submittals, one-line diagrams, and power system design.
• Experience with electrical estimating software such as Trimble Accubid or McCormick preferred.
• Electrical trade background is a plus.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word, Outlook) and Bluebeam.

Responsibilities

• Aid in producing accurate estimates including subcontractor and vendor solicitation, quantity takeoffs, pricing analysis, proposal comparisons, and estimate summaries.
• Review, analyze, and interpret Contract Documents (RFP, specifications, etc.).
• Complete full quantity takeoff and data entry for industrial and technical electrical systems (conduit, wire, cable, raceway, devices, fixtures).
• Price LV/MV distribution equipment (switchgear, switchboards, MCCs, panelboards, busway, feeders).
• Price transformers (dry-type, pad-mount, substation) and related terms, testing, commissioning.
• Estimate SCADA, PLC, instrumentation, and control system scope with coordination with controls integrators and low-voltage subs.
• Bid off preconstruction design narratives for budgeting.
• Estimate emergency power systems (generators, ATS, UPS).
• Estimate grounding, lighting, fire alarm, and low-voltage scope.
• Solicit and evaluate long-lead electrical equipment quotes; track lead times and escalation risk.
• Analyze drawings and specifications to establish project requirements (one-line diagrams, panel schedules, load calculations).
• Communicate project information clearly to the team.
• Support lead estimators with local government, utility, and private entity data (permits, service requirements, etc.).
• Archive filing and historical cost data gathering.
• Assist in setup and tracking of production rates.
• Participate in project reviews and site investigations; coordinate with design for constructability and value engineering.
• Schedule estimating team reviews.
• Navigate bid solicitation software and adapt to bid forms.
