Job summary

Michels Power, Inc. seeks an Electrical Estimator – Industrial & Medium Voltage to evaluate bid specs and drawings, develop competitive bids, and coordinate with subcontractors and Project Management to ensure complete scope coverage and timely turnover.

Role requires a related degree and 3–5 years of estimating experience, proficiency with MS Office and Accubid, and exposure to project management or field operations, with travel ~25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
• 3–5 years of related experience in estimating, construction, or electrical infrastructure.
• Experience with negotiation and subcontractor engagement.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental policies and regulations.
• Review bid specifications and drawings for projects ranging approximately from $500K to $10M, ensuring full scope coverage.
• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for industrial electrical and medium-voltage systems.
• Partner with Procurement to secure vendor and supplier pricing.
• Identify, manage, and maintain relationships with subcontractors, ensuring timely and complete bid coverage.
• Develop project schedules and cost forecasts to support estimating accuracy.
• Track and analyze budget-to-actual comparisons throughout the bid lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Project Management to follow up on bids, budgets, and award status.
• Properly turnover bid documents and subcontractor buyout information to Project Managers.
• Review drawings with Project Management teams and highlight risks, gaps, or constructability issues.
• Maintain organized and well-documented estimate files.
