Job summary

Houle is seeking an Intermediate to Senior Electrical Estimator to join our Pre-construction team. Remote working options are available for the right candidate, reporting to the Chief Estimator.

Responsibilities include estimating project costs, developing quotations from $1M to $100M, and mentoring junior estimators while collaborating with suppliers and customers to optimize cost and value.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience estimating electrical work for construction projects across Industrial, Commercial, Higher Education, Healthcare, Federal/Provincial/Civic Infrastructure and multi-use residential sectors.
• AScT., E.I.T. or P.Eng. status or equivalent.
• Knowledge of electrical tendering processes and Bid Depository regulations.
• Strong understanding of electrical sub-trades scope of work and installation methods.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and P&ID’s.
• Experience with Accubid and LiveCount estimating software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
• Experience using Bluebeam, AutoCAD or BIM is an asset.
• Able to build relationships and work well in a team; strong communication skills.
• Leadership experience mentoring junior team members is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Estimate project costs and assemble quantity take-offs to develop quotations.
• Prepare requests for quotations and obtain competitive pricing from suppliers and subs contractors.
• Develop quotations for opportunities from $1M to $100M in total value.
• Proof-read estimates for completeness and compliance with scope and specifications.
• Communicate with suppliers and customers to strategize cost-saving opportunities.
• Draft proposals and submit tenders meeting requirements.
• Contribute to bid labour and material databases.
• Analyze current practices to identify cost saving and process improvements.
• Collaborate with the Chief Estimator to develop indirect costs and overheads.
• Mentor and support junior estimators.
