Job summary

CareerNerds, LLC is seeking a Sr. Electrical Estimator to support large-scale construction projects nationwide, focusing on data centers and heavy industrial sectors.

The role is fully onsite in Houston, TX, with a 40-45 hour workweek, and travel as needed. The ideal candidate brings strong electrical estimating experience, ability to interpret complex drawings, and proficiency with Excel and estimating software.

Qualifications

• Electrical construction estimating experience within industrial, commercial, EPC, or mission-critical construction.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Knowledge of electrical materials, installation methods, and construction labor requirements.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, cost estimating, and subcontractor bid evaluations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Bluebeam, McCormick, Accubid, or similar estimating software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical and instrumentation estimates for complex construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents to determine project scope and requirements.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate material, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations for accuracy and competitiveness.
• Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams throughout the bidding process.
• Analyze labor productivity, material pricing, and project-specific cost considerations.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project walkdowns.
• Develop proposal documentation and final bid packages.
• Maintain historical cost data and support improvements in estimating accuracy.
