Company Overview

Structure Tone, part of the STO Building Group, is seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator to support our New Jersey operations. The role involves developing, creating, and preparing construction electrical or MEP cost estimates for diverse projects during the early development stages and providing ongoing support with updated cost information throughout the Pre-construction phase. The position requires managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and MEP drawings.
• Prepare quantity take-offs for assigned projects.
• Review and analyze project plans and drawings thoroughly.
• Identify omitted items and ensure accurate accounting in estimates.
• Develop and maintain relationships; solicit subcontractor bids for projects totaling $50-$150 million annually.
• Obtain 3-5 bids per trade and supplier group, review bids for conformance, quality, and cost.
• Discuss and resolve questions with subcontractors.
• Follow established estimating practices to ensure comprehensive and accurate estimates that meet financial goals.
• Stay updated on construction codes and utilize software for estimating activities.
• Participate in client meetings, address pricing questions, and ensure client satisfaction.
• Perform change order pricing, site visits, and collaborate on bids.
• Determine material and labor requirements, prepare detailed lists, and analyze cost factors.
• Conduct studies to develop standard data and identify cost reduction opportunities.
• Manage a centralized estimating database and process.
• Analyze project discrepancies and recommend improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, management, engineering, or architecture preferred.
• 8+ years’ experience in estimating or related roles within general contracting and purchasing.
• Open to candidates transitioning from field operations to preconstruction.
• Proficient in MS Office/Excel, with strong organizational and budgeting skills.
• Honest, accountable, and reliable professional attitude.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive salary with discretionary bonuses, comprehensive health insurance, 401(k) with employer match, paid time off, holidays, and other benefits. Salary range: $120,000 - $170,000.
