Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years of experience in the electrical construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates for projects.
• Review RFQs, RFPs, and bid invitations to assess scope, risk, and feasibility.
• Manage estimating schedules, workflows, and timelines to meet business objectives.
• Communicate with clients to clarify scope, address gaps, and support relationship development.
• Review and validate estimator takeoffs to ensure alignment with drawings and specifications.
• Prepare scope letters, bid packages, and supporting documentation.
• Lead internal estimate reviews and validation meetings.
• Develop assumptions and strategies for conceptual and early-stage estimating.
• Participate in project turnover and kickoff meetings when needed.
• Provide cost breakdowns, analysis, and recommendations to support leadership decisions.
• Attend job walks and identify discrepancies in drawings, specifications, and requirements.
• Mentor and train junior estimators to strengthen team performance.
• Track bid outcomes, maintain logs, and follow up with clients on results.

This role plays a critical part in driving profitable growth by delivering accurate, competitive, and strategic bids. You will partner closely with leadership, project teams, and clients to assess opportunities, manage risk, and support key business decisions. In addition to producing estimates, this position provides mentorship to junior estimators and helps elevate overall estimating capabilities. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership, and market awareness in a fast-paced construction environment.

Requirements

• 5 to 10 years of experience in the electrical construction industry
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulations
• Proven experience producing accurate estimates, takeoffs, and proposals with minimal errors
• Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid and LiveCount
• Ability to interpret cost data and utilize estimating systems effectively
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present estimates and negotiate effectively
• Strong time management and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
• Awareness of market conditions including labor rates and material cost trends
• Experience mentoring or leading estimators is preferred
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and quality
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across teams, clients, and leadership
• Willingness to travel for job walks and work extended hours when required
