Job summary

gpac, a national executive search firm, has been retained by a local electrical contractor in the Phoenix area to find a Senior Electrical Estimator to join their team.

The Senior Estimator will lead the bid process for large-scale commercial, industrial, and institutional projects, develop comprehensive estimates, and mentor junior staff. The role requires deep technical knowledge, strong cost control, and collaboration with project teams.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of electrical estimating experience with an electrical contractor.
• Experience estimating commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.
• Proficiency with Accubid, McCormick, or Conest.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and cost control.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
• Leadership or senior estimating experience.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the estimating process for large-scale electrical projects.
• Review specs, drawings, and scope to prepare competitive bids.
• Perform detailed take-offs for materials and labor.
• Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and field teams for project execution.
• Analyze historical cost data and supplier pricing.
• Attend pre-bid meetings and site walkthroughs.
• Manage vendor, subcontractor, and client pricing.
• Mentor junior estimators and provide guidance.
• Support value engineering to optimize costs.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Lead the estimating process for large-scale commercial, industrial, and institutional electrical projects
• Review project specifications, drawings, and scope to develop comprehensive and competitive bids
• Conduct detailed take-offs, ensuring accurate material and labor cost estimates
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure seamless project execution
• Analyze historical cost data and supplier pricing to improve estimating accuracy
• Attend pre-bid meetings and job site walkthroughs to verify project conditions
• Build and maintain relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and clients to secure competitive pricing
• Oversee junior estimators, providing mentorship and technical guidance
• Collaborate on value engineering opportunities to optimize project costs and efficiency
• Ensure all estimates comply with company standards, industry regulations, and contract requirements

Qualifications

• 7+ years of electrical estimating experience with an electrical contractor
• Expertise in estimating commercial, industrial, and institutional projects
• Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid, McCormick, or Conest
• Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and cost control
• Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and contracts with precision
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Stable work history
• Previous experience in a leadership or senior estimating role
