Job summary

AppleOne Employment Services seeks a Senior Electrical Estimator for a direct-hire, on-site role in Kansas City, MO. You will lead bid processes from document review to final submission with precision and confidence.

You will review plans, develop scopes, perform takeoffs, build cost estimates with Accubid, manage vendor quotes, guide junior staff, and support high-value pursuits within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for major electrical systems.
• Manage vendor quotes, RFIs, bid packages, and value engineering.
• Mentor junior estimators and help establish estimating standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-lifecycle electrical estimating for design-build, design-bid-build, and CM-at-risk project delivery models.
• Review plans, specifications, bid documents, and addenda to develop accurate scopes of work and complete electrical estimates.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for conduit, wire, switchgear, distribution, lighting, controls, fire alarm, and low-voltage systems.
• Build detailed cost estimates using Accubid, including labor units, crew composition, productivity factors, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Solicit, level, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes, attend pre-bid walks, resolve RFIs, and prepare complete bid packages.
• Support project turnover, post-bid buyout, change orders, value engineering, historical cost updates, and mentoring of junior estimating staff.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Estimator for a direct hire opportunity in Kansas City, MO, supporting complex electrical construction projects across industrial facilities, infrastructure, commercial, public, and federal work. This full-time, on-site role is ideal for an experienced electrical estimating professional who can lead the bid process from initial document review through final submission with accuracy, confidence, and minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead full-lifecycle electrical estimating efforts for design-build, design-bid-build, and CM-at-risk project delivery models.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary range: $80,000 to $125,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Lead electrical construction estimates from bid documents through final submission.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for major electrical systems.
• Manage vendor quotes, RFIs, bid packages, project turnovers, and value engineering support.
• Mentor junior estimators and help establish estimating standards and process improvements.
• 10 or more years of construction estimating experience.
• 7 or more years of estimating experience specifically within electrical contracting.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and field experience.
• Proficiency with Accubid, Procore, BHS, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Project.
• Strong knowledge of NEC codes, regulatory compliance, electrical systems, labor productivity, and current market pricing.
• Experience estimating industrial, infrastructure, commercial, public, or federal electrical construction projects.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, addenda, and technical documents with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong communication, organization, analytical thinking, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Kansas City, MO and travel occasionally for pre-bid walks and site visits.

Preferred Qualifications

• PMP or CPE certification.
• Experience leading estimating teams or mentoring junior estimating staff.
• Experience with design-build, design-bid-build, and CM-at-risk delivery methods.
• Strong background supporting post-bid buyout, change orders, value engineering, and historical pricing database updates.
