Senior Electrical Estimator
Location: Appleton, WI
Job type and Duration: Contract to Hire
Our client is looking to hire a Senior Electrical Estimator for their team in Appleton, WI.
The manager is not seeking candidates with commercial and residential experience/background. They need someone with an industrial background.
The Senior Electrical Estimator will be responsible for leading complex multi-discipline estimates for both field and pre-fabrication construction projects across a diverse portfolio of project types and clients. This role involves advising the estimating manager and director on project complexities and risks, and presenting accurate, professional estimates while minimizing company risk.
Responsibilities:
- Consult with clients, procurement, subcontractors, vendors, or other stakeholders to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Interface with Procurement and Operations to support and commit to the cost estimates.
- Manage the centralized cost estimating database and data models.
- Create processes to support cost estimating, utilizing historical data.
- Review completed projects to compare estimated versus actual costs and suggest improvements.
- Analyze cost trends to assist in cost reduction and process improvements.
- Research historical data to develop labor unit suggestions and identify cost reductions.
- Lead estimating strategy and continuous improvement efforts.
- Review and validate project schedules and scope of work.
- Manage workload scheduling for timely deliverables.
- Ensure compliance with estimating methodology and quality standards.
- Manage subcontractor solicitations, quotes, and evaluations.
- Coordinate with operations and fabrication teams regarding estimates.
- Review and approve equipment pricing and final estimates.
- Lead estimate turnover to operations/fabrication teams.
- Manage cost history and database management.
- Make recommendations on fees, contingencies, and escalation.
- Prepare data for risk review processes and legal review of commercial terms.
- Validate value engineering options and assumptions.
- Identify scope gaps and overlaps in project documents.
- Provide leadership and guidance to less experienced staff.
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes.
Requirements:
- Previous experience as an Electrical Estimator.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, with 7+ years of electrical estimating experience, or applicable substitute experience.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Quotesoft, InEight, Accubid, BlueBeam Extreme, Navisworks, Tekla, Oracle, PowerBI.
- Thorough knowledge of estimating techniques, construction disciplines, and cost control systems.
- Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle large workloads and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively, think creatively, and make quick, sound decisions.
