Compass Systems, Inc. in Johnstown, PA is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead advanced electrical design, development, and integration across the full lifecycle of complex electronic systems, from concept through production.

The role requires translating system requirements into robust designs, reviewing schematics, mentoring engineers, and guiding cross‑functional teams in design reviews, DFM, testing, and transition to manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security clearance.
• Experience with PCB design and hardware release.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior electrical engineering support for product development, system upgrades, and production efforts.
• Lead electrical design activities at both the system architecture level and PCB design level.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in PCB design, schematic capture, layout, and design optimization.
• Create, review, and approve electrical schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, and engineering documentation.
• Utilize advanced PCB design tools to develop high-quality, manufacturable circuit board designs.
• Perform analysis, troubleshooting, root cause investigations, and corrective actions for complex electrical issues.
• Support prototype development, testing, qualification, and transition into production manufacturing.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers and technicians.
• Participate in design reviews, requirements development, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support manufacturing through design for manufacturability (DFM), testability, and production readiness activities.
• Evaluate new technologies, components, and design approaches to improve product performance and reliability.
