Job description

Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer

Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our expanding team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical design and management, including:

  • Design and equipment upgrades
  • Power system studies, including arc flash hazards analysis
  • Low and medium voltage power distribution in industrial settings
  • Equipment design and selection (motor control centers, drives, switchgear, etc.)
  • Drawing creation (power plans, layouts, one-lines, wiring diagrams)

This role offers a unique opportunity for career growth, meaningful work, and environmental protection. Remote work is permitted, preferably based near a Brown and Caldwell office in the Pacific Northwest (Seattle, Portland, Boise), or from anywhere in the Mountain or West Coast time zones.

Responsibilities include mentoring staff, client interaction, project management, design delivery, and business development. Specific tasks involve power system modeling, conceptual design, equipment layout, contract drawing development, field investigations, and support during construction.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Manage projects or serve as lead discipline engineer.
  2. Scope, budget, and coordinate project execution.
  3. Ensure timely, on-budget delivery of electrical designs.
  4. Support business development efforts.
  5. Mentor junior engineers and designers.
  6. Review contractor submittals and RFI documents.
  7. Produce reports and technical memorandums.
  8. Collaborate with national technical teams.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional registration or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience
  • Experience with Revit/BIM, AutoCAD P&ID, power system software (SKM, ETAP, EasyPower)
  • Knowledge of industrial power systems and NEC
  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to multi-task under pressure
Preferred Qualifications
  • 15+ years experience
  • Experience with Design Build projects
  • Additional certifications (PMP, LEED, CESCP)
  • Renewable energy design experience
Salary Range

Location A: $118,000 - $161,000

Location B: $130,000 - $177,000

Location C: $142,000 - $194,000
