Job summary

The New York Power Authority seeks an experienced electrical engineer to provide leadership for equipment and control systems across generation, transmission, metering and customer utilization projects.

You will develop specifications, perform field visits, coordinate with vendors, mentor junior engineers, and ensure safety, reliability and codes compliance. Travel about 25% within NY. Licensure and a strong utility/industrial background are required.

Qualifications

BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; NY-P.E. license required or NY endorsement within 12 months.
10+ years in lead engineering roles in electric utilities or electrical construction.
Experience with electrical design, field reviews, and cross-disciplinary project coordination.

Responsibilities

Provide lead engineer function for large or complex projects.
Develop specifications and design packages; oversee design reviews.
Perform field visits to support reviews, inspections, and testing with vendors.
Coordinate cross-disciplinary activities; mentor junior engineers.
Support emergency response and 24/7 on-call as needed.
Manage technical and commercial aspects of external work; ensure safety and reliability.
