Job summary

Entergy is seeking an Engineer, I-Sr (Utility) to perform a wide variety of analysis and project-oriented engineering activities related to device coordination and protection for distribution devices, self-healing networks, and automated transfer schemes within the electrical distribution system.

The role requires expertise in protection coordination, settings development, and collaboration with IT, project managers, and field teams to ensure reliability and prevent outages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a four-year accredited institution (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial).
• Engineer I: 0-2 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
• Engineer II: 2-4 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
• Engineer III: 4-6 years of experience in an engineering discipline.
• Engineer Sr.: 6+ years of experience in an engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

• Perform protection and coordination studies for new and existing distribution protective devices.
• Develop settings for distribution protective devices and other equipment.
• Provide substation distribution settings recommendations.
• Develop distribution automation controller settings for self-healing networks.
• Support settings requests related to self-healing networks and review coordination of proposed new self-healing networks.
• Work with IT to develop SCADA host edit sheets for distribution devices and self-healing networks.
• Work with project managers to commission distribution devices and self-healing networks to SCADA.
• Support Distribution Automation relay field specialists on protection standards and procedures.
• Analyze event data with reliability/field engineers and provide technical support to designers, operations, and managed accounts.
• Engage with planning for distributed generation facilities and provide feedback on feasibility studies.
• Participate in storm/outage restoration duties and cross-functional optimization across grid/system domains.
• Provide protection guidance to Engineering Design Group, Operations, and Distribution Operations Center for contingency switching.
