Job summary

BSI Engineering, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support our hybrid workplace in Cedar Rapids.

You will design power distribution systems for diverse industries, ensuring Code compliance and safety while coordinating with a full-service team to deliver integrated solutions. Responsibilities include leading electrical design scopes, performing calculations, and guiding low- and medium-voltage projects, MCCs, and cable tray systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical engineering, or related discipline, required
• 5+ years of electrical design experience
• Exposure to EasyPower and/or SKM software
• Familiar with AutoCAD and Revit software
• Experience with load studies required
• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code
• Industrial power distribution experience required
• Ability to specify power distribution equipment
• Familiarity with lighting design and lighting controls
• Familiarity with grounding system design
• Field exposure to various manufacturing, industrial, commercial, or institutional environments

Responsibilities

• Execute electrical engineering design scope for single and multi-discipline projects while ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards
• Perform the Lead role as assigned
• Ensure quality and technical accuracy of project deliverables including calculations and design effort
• Meet discipline’s engineering schedule and budget objectives
• Self perform design of low voltage (600 and below) industrial power distribution systems, including specifying equipment, sizing overcurrent protection, conductors, conduit, and cable tray
• Assist in the design of medium voltage (MV) power distribution systems and MV equipment
• Assist in short circuit/arc flash/coordination and load studies
• Self perform MCC specification and design modifications, including single lines and MCC elevations
• Self perform cable tray and conduit system design and distribution equipment specification
• Participate in construction support, startup and commissioning efforts
• Interface with clients on a regular basis
