Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to design, develop, and support power distribution and control system products, including switchgear and transfer switches, for standard and engineered-to-order solutions.

You will create and maintain schematics, perform load and protection studies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver compliant, field-ready designs in a clean, modern facility in Bedford, OH.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required.
• 5+ years of electrical design or product engineering experience.
• Experience with power distribution equipment, switchgear, transfer switches, industrial control systems, or motor control systems.
• Strong working knowledge of UL and NEC requirements applicable to power distribution equipment.
• Experience supporting engineered-to-order products and cross-functional project teams.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical and Autodesk products.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop power distribution, switchgear, transfer switch, and control system solutions for standard and engineered-to-order products.
• Create and maintain electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, bills of material, relay settings, and technical documentation.
• Perform electrical calculations such as load analysis, short-circuit studies, voltage drop calculations, protective device coordination, and arc flash assessments.
• Support product improvements driven by customer requirements, manufacturing feedback, quality initiatives, and field experience.
• Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, project, and controls engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
• Validate designs through testing, inspections, and technical reviews.
• Ensure compliance with UL 508A, UL 891, UL 1008, NEC IEEEC 37.20, and NFPA 70E.
• Investigate product, manufacturing, and field performance issues and implement effective engineering solutions.
• Support product certifications, UL inspections, and regulatory compliance activities.
• Mentor junior engineers and participate in customer meetings, technical reviews, and design discussions.
