Job summary

The Nuclear Company in the United States is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to lead design, analysis, and maintenance of electrical systems for nuclear power plants or advanced reactor projects. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to apply IEEE standards and industry codes to meet safety and quality requirements.

The role demands strong communication, hands-on problem solving, and the ability to guide junior staff while integrating AI-driven tools into engineering workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • EIT license required.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience in power/nuclear environments.
  • Proficiency with ETAP or SKM and AutoCAD/SolidWorks/ANSYS.
  • Ability to obtain security clearance for unescorted access to a nuclear station.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analysis of electrical components and systems.
  • Prepare engineering calculations (short circuit, arc flash, relay settings), drawings and specs.
  • Prepare or review engineering modification packages.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineering staff.
  • Diagnose electrical equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Review vendor documentation and technical specifications.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical meetings.
  • Interface with civil/structural, mechanical, and I&C engineers.
  • Support QA/QC programs and prepare technical reports.
  • Recommend equipment and new concepts to improve performance and reduce costs.
