Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Austin, TX is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead design teams across power, process, healthcare and other sectors, guiding projects from conception to construction. You will mentor engineers, review vendor drawings, develop budgets, schedules and cost proposals, ensure QA/QC, and coordinate with other disciplines while delivering compliant, cost-effective solutions.

Travel up to 25% and PE license preferred; ABET-accredited degrees required; the role is full-time

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree in electrical engineering or related field with 7 years EPC experience.
• FE exam completed with ABET-accredited program and 7 years EPC experience.
• Master's degree with 6 years EPC experience.
• Strong knowledge of ANSI and IEEE electrical standards and equipment design.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design from conceptual phase through design completion per PM guidance.
• Prepare electrical equipment specs, RFQs, bid summaries, and purchase recs.
• Review vendor drawings and coordinate with suppliers, clients and other disciplines.
• Contribute to project schedule, scope, budget, staffing and construction planning; manage changes.
• Quality review drawings and CAD related data; ensure corrections are implemented.
• Coordinate construction administration with field personnel and inspections.
• Lead field measurements, calculations and installations for clients.
• Develop budgets, cost estimates, and present project performance.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and ensure QA/QC adherence.
• Communicate effectively with other engineering disciplines and ensure safety compliance.
