Job summary

Salas O’Brien in Philadelphia, PA is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to design, analyze, and implement critical power infrastructure across mission-critical, healthcare, life sciences, and commercial sectors.

The role develops detailed specifications for UPS systems, emergency generators, and low-/medium-voltage switchgear, performs power system studies, and leads engineers and designers through all project phases.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (Strongly Preferred).
• 10-15 years of experience in electrical power design.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and Revit for system layouts and drawings.
• Experience with UPS, standby generators, and LV/MV switchgear.
• Ability to supervise staff engineers and designers.
• Strong technical writing and report development skills.
• Knowledge of data center, healthcare, life sciences, and commercial facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical load calculations and develop power distribution designs for multiple project types.
• Prepare construction documents, specifications, and technical reports for UPS and generator systems.
• Utilize AutoCAD and Revit to create layouts and one-lines.
• Conduct power system studies: short circuit, coordination, and arc flash analysis.
• Design standby and emergency power configurations, including paralleling schemes.
• Lead and mentor engineers and designers, with quality oversight.
• Conduct field surveys and site assessments to support design.
• Support construction administration activities (RFIs, submittals, site visits).
• Collaborate with clients and teams to deliver cost-effective solutions.
• Develop technical specs and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
• Apply data center infrastructure knowledge to mission-critical designs.
• Stay current with industry standards and best practices.
