Job summary

Salas O’Brien, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design, analyze, and implement critical power infrastructure across mission-critical, healthcare, life sciences, and commercial sectors.

You will develop detailed specifications for UPS systems, emergency and standby generators, and low- and medium-voltage switchgear, ensuring reliability and code compliance. Field surveys and coordination with contractors are essential.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with electrical load calculations.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and Revit.
• Experience with SKM or ETAP.
• Strong technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical load calculations and develop comprehensive power distribution designs for commercial, infrastructure, and data center projects.
• Prepare detailed construction documents, including drawings, specifications, and technical reports for UPS systems, emergency/standby generators, and low-voltage switchgear.
• Utilize AutoCAD and Revit to develop system layouts, one-lines, and coordinated design models.
• Conduct power system studies, including short circuit, selective coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis using SKM, ETAP, or similar software.
• Design and engineer standby and emergency power systems, including generator and paralleling system configurations.
• Perform field surveys and site assessments to verify existing conditions and support design development.
• Support construction administration activities, including submittal reviews, RFIs, site visits, and coordination with contractors.
• Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders to deliver technically sound and cost-effective solutions.
• Develop and maintain technical specifications and documentation to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Apply knowledge of data center infrastructure to support mission-critical system design and reliability objectives.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by staying current with industry standards, technologies, and best practices.
