Job summary

Kimley-Horn in Columbia, South Carolina is seeking an Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of experience to join our MEP team on-site. You will lead the design and analysis of electrical systems, develop detailed design documents, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across Kimley-Horn offices.

Responsibilities include preparing specifications, cost estimates, and proposals while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in an Electrical Engineering role.
• PE license (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Understanding of NEC, NESC, IEEE and ANSI standards.
• Willingness to travel for site visits and meetings.
• Ability to mentor junior staff and work in a team.
• Experience in utility-scale PV, MEP, HVAC or data center design is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and analyze electrical systems for MEP projects.
• Develop design documents including layouts, schematics, calculations and one-line diagrams.
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams across Kimley-Horn offices.
• Prepare specifications, construction cost estimates and proposals.
• Mentor and grow the MEP electrical team.
• Coordinate with fire alarm, lighting and technology specialists as required.
• Work with architects and other engineers on equipment power needs and distribution sizing.
