Job summary

BD in Durham, NC seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer 3 to design, develop and test electrical systems for medical devices from concept through production. You will contribute to multiple lifecycle stages, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal quality processes.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, perform schematic capture and PCB layout, and support manufacturing transfers while maintaining detailed documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7-10 years of experience in electrical design and development.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium/OrCAD/Eagle).
• Strong understanding of analog/digital design, power electronics and embedded systems.
• Experience with microcontrollers, FPGAs and multiple comms protocols (SPI/I2C/UART/Ethernet/USB).
• Familiarity with medical device regulations (IEC 60601, ISO 13485) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test electrical circuits and systems for medical devices, including embedded systems, power management, sensor interfaces and communication.
• Perform schematic capture, PCB layout, and component selection with manufacturability and cost in mind.
• Conduct testing, debugging, and issue resolution for electrical designs.
• Develop and execute test plans, analyze data and generate reports.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software and QA teams for product integration and design reviews.
• Ensure designs meet IEC 60601, ISO 13485 and internal quality systems.
• Support manufacturing transfer activities, including prototype builds and production test fixture development.
• Maintain thorough documentation of designs, analyses, and tests.
• Stay current with emerging electrical engineering technologies for medical devices.
