Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 7–10 years in electrical design and development.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layouts (Altium, OrCAD, Eagle).
  • Strong analog/digital circuit design, power electronics and embedded systems knowledge.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, FPGAs and common protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, USB).
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical systems with lab equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and test electrical circuits and systems for medical devices, including embedded components.
  • Perform schematic capture and PCB layout, select components with manufacturability and cost in mind.
  • Conduct testing, debugging and issue resolution of electrical designs.
  • Develop and execute test plans and analyze test data; generate reports.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and QA teams for seamless product integration.
  • Participate in design reviews and ensure compliance with IEC 60601 and ISO 13485.

Job Summary

As an Electrical Engineer 3 at CareFusion 303, Inc., you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of electrical systems and components for our medical device products. You will contribute to various stages of the product lifecycle, from concept through production, ensuring compliance with industry standards and internal quality processes.

Job Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and test electrical circuits and systems for medical devices, including embedded systems, power management, sensor interfaces, and communication protocols.
  • Perform schematic capture, PCB layout design and component selection, considering manufacturability, cost and reliability.
  • Conduct thorough testing, debugging and troubleshooting of electrical designs, identifying and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Develop and execute test plans, analyze test data and generate comprehensive test reports.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software engineers and quality assurance, to ensure seamless product integration.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback and technical expertise.
  • Ensure all designs and processes adhere to relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC 60601, ISO 13485) and internal quality system requirements.
  • Support manufacturing transfer activities, including prototype builds, production test fixture development and resolving production‑related electrical issues.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of designs, analyses and test results.
  • Stay current with emerging electrical engineering technologies and trends relevant to the medical device industry.
Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 7-10 years of experience in electrical design and development.
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, Eagle).
  • Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design principles, power electronics and embedded systems.
  • Experience with microcontrollers, FPGAs and various communication protocols (e.g., SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet, USB).
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and debug complex electrical systems using standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum analyzers).
  • Familiarity with medical device regulations and standards (e.g., IEC 60601, ISO 13485) is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred

Preferred Medical device industry or a highly regulated environment.
