Job summary

HDR is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer in downtown Chicago to lead electrical design on complex building projects. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, oversee power and lighting systems, and drive designs through development and construction while ensuring code compliance and client engagement.

The role requires a PE license, a 10+ year track record in building electrical design, and strong proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with an electrical emphasis.
• Minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
• Requires PE license recognized by the licensing board for the position location.
• Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and life safety systems.
• Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and electrical design software such as AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers with the balance of a multidiscipline team throughout the entire project's development
• Establish client relations, and participate in the marketing, design and production meetings with regard to electrical systems
• Assume the electrical lead on many projects
• Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
• Conduct schematic, design development and contract document work sessions at the project site with the Project Manager and other disciplines
• Coordinate workload to complete documents on schedule
• Track the financial aspects of projects and coordinate the team to stay within the schedule
• Direct activities of other electrical engineering professionals and mentor staff
• Perform other duties as needed
