Job summary

MP Materials in Mountain Pass, CA, seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design, construction and commissioning of capital projects. The role acts as SME for site electrical projects and interfaces with process engineering, controls, and maintenance teams.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience in heavy industrial settings, with strong NEC/NFPA 70E knowledge and proven contractor management skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or relevant technical degree.
• 7+ years electrical construction, commissioning and supervision experience in a heavy industrial or mining environment.
• Strong knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E.
• Experience managing electrical construction contractors in heavy industrial facilities.
• Experience with high voltage infrastructure and power distribution systems in an industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct due diligence on electrical infrastructure to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards.
• Work with contractors through various phases of project design, bidding, construction and commissioning.
• Serve as an owner’s representative providing field inspections, construction quality assurance, oversight of electrical testing and commissioning activities during various phases of construction.
• Preparing engineering related calculations, developing drawings and visual aids.
• Assisting with field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials quality.
• Work with site maintenance team to optimize routine testing and preventative maintenance schedules and procedures for electrical equipment.
