Job summary

Leidos Defense Systems seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer - Hardware Design to architect, implement, and test PCBAs for complex defense-grade hardware. Join a compact, fast-paced team responsible for power, mixed-signal, FPGA, and microcontroller designs through all lifecycle phases.

The candidate will work with other engineers and customers to meet diverse requirements, troubleshoot issues in manufacturing and testing, and bring robust hardware to mission-critical applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET-accredited institution.
• 8+ years experience in electronics design and test from architecture through implementation.
• Advanced knowledge of digital/analog/mixed signal electronics, components, and interface/communication standards.
• Expertise in digital PCB design and troubleshooting including embedded processor, microcontroller, or FPGA-based designs.
• Experience with design, test, troubleshooting, and manufacture of complex multi-layer electronic circuit card assemblies.
• Hands-on lab experience with instrumentation, test equipment, and debug/test methods.
• Ability to decompose system-level requirements to lower design levels.
• Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams.
• Strong team communication skills.
• Resident of North Alabama or willing to relocate to Huntsville area.

Responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and test PCBAs including power supply, mixed-signal, FPGA, and microcontroller designs.
• Perform signal integrity analysis and power distribution network design; explore high-speed 10 GigE+ and RF designs.
• Troubleshoot board-level issues and identify root causes with corrective actions.
• Collaborate with engineers, PMs, technicians, and customers throughout the product life cycle.
• Support design for manufacturability and test during fabrication and final qualification.
