Job summary

Transmission & Distribution World seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in electromagnetic effects, EMP protection, acoustics, sensors, photonics, and technical security to support DoD and federal infrastructure protection programs.

You will lead curriculum development, act as SME on security engineering criteria, and deliver training globally to DoD and Federal Agency personnel, ensuring content remains aligned with latest standards and technologies.

Qualifications

• Basic Requirement for Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in engineering with ABET accreditation or equivalent, including core engineering science courses.
• Combination of Education and Experience acceptable with documented background in engineering fundamentals and practical application.
• Professional registration or licensure (Engineer Intern, EIT, or PE) or passing FE exam required for some paths.
• Specialized experience includes developing electromagnetic protection methods, setting regulatory requirements, and creating training curricula.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME on committees updating security engineering design/ construction criteria for military infrastructure and critical assets.
• Develop security engineering criteria focusing on protecting people, equipment and infrastructure from EMP, RF, TEMPEST and other electromagnetic threats.
• Define design techniques for materials in hostile electromagnetic environments and retrofit techniques for new and revised criteria.
• Represent USACE on teams updating regulations for USACE, DA, DoW, or other Federal Agencies.
• Lead instructors and deliver training to DoW and Federal Agency staff worldwide; develop curricula for electromagnetic and acoustic transmission protection.
