Job summary

BG Power Advisors is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design for hyperscale data centers in a fast-paced environment. The role involves directing design teams, ensuring adherence to standards, and coordinating with owners and operators to meet project goals.

Experience in 40 MW+ data center projects, strong communication, and a PE license (or pursuit) are strongly preferred. This is a W-2 contract-to-hire role with potential conversion to full-time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• PE license preferred (or in active pursuit).
• 11+ years of related experience in electrical design.
• Experience on hyperscale data centers of 40 MW+ is required.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and BIM; 3D modeling and Navisworks a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication.

BG Power Advisors is recruiting a Senior Electrical Engineer for a leading U.S. engineering firm's data center practice, leading detailed electrical design of large-scale, hyperscale data center facilities.

Contract-to-hire

(W-2 contract, with conversion to a full-time role for the right candidate). Starts as soon as possible; initial term runs through approximately April 2027 ahead of conversion. Pay rate up to $91/hour (W-2), depending on experience.

Location:

On-site 5 days a week at one of these offices: Overland Park, KS; Ann Arbor, MI; Bloomington, MN; Canonsburg, PA; Cary, NC; Dallas, TX; Darien, IL; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; Orlando, FL; Phoenix, AZ; or Tualatin, OR.

What you'll do

• Lead detailed electrical design for large-scale data center environments, including leading design teams
• Weigh in on where a design could fail and how to build in backup power paths and fault tolerance
• Prepare and review technical drawings for conformance with standards and client requirements; review drawing and modeling production work
• Perform detailed calculations and prepare engineering studies and reports
• Conduct field surveys and assess existing facilities
• Work with project teams and field personnel to deliver on scope, budget and schedule
• Coach and oversee junior engineers and designers, and work directly with major data center owners and operators on their requirements

What you'll bring

• Required: prior design experience on hyperscale data centers of at least 40 MW
• Minimum 11 years of related experience and a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program
• PE license preferred (or in active pursuit)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and BIM; 3D modeling, complex Revit families, BIM 360 and Navisworks a plus
• Understanding of hyperscale, edge and colocation data center design differences and tier rating systems
• Ability to lead project schedules, budgets and staffing, and support business development
• Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable with ambiguous scopes on a fast-paced schedule
