Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to support our Power Division and lead electrical design for BESS projects, including plant layout, hardware selection, system optimization, and interconnection planning.

The role requires coordinating with Service Leaders and Directors, supervising design staff, and ensuring firm standards across projects. Strong leadership, budget management, and client interaction are essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, and interconnection requirements.
• Knowledge and proficiency with electrical power system modeling software.
• Approximately 4–10 years of experience in electrical engineering design related to power generation, energy storage, substations, or electrical distribution systems.
• Reading construction drawings and specifications.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Strong written and verbal communication with ability to produce detailed technical reports.
• Experience preparing proposals, managing project budgets, invoices, change orders, progress reporting, and coordinating project data.
• Strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Ability to use AutoCAD in a limited capacity.

Responsibilities

• Manage electrical engineering of BESS projects and budgets to ensure budgets are met.
• Coordinate electrical scope with project manager and other disciplines.
• Prepare construction documents and serve as primary client contact.
• Perform QA/QC reviews of design work.
• Oversee resources and staff for electrical calculations and studies.
• Support RFP responses with scope and fee estimates for electrical engineering services.
• Collaborate with clients, utilities, system integrators, and code enforcement authorities.
• Mentor graduate engineers, staff engineers, and design technicians.
