Job summary

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical design of battery energy storage systems (BESS) from site design to interconnection, including PCS/BMS integration and protection schemes.

You will coordinate with service leaders and the Director of Electrical Engineering, oversee staff, ensure code compliance, and guide project delivery across multiple sites with a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems Engineering; persuasively demonstrates understanding of electrical design for energy storage projects.
Knowledge of NEC Article 706, NESC, UL 9540, NFPA 855, IFC Chapter 12, and IEEE 1547/519/C37 standards.
Experience using power system modeling programs for protection, short circuit and power flow studies.
4–10 years of experience in electrical design for distribution, generation, energy storage or substation design.
Understanding battery storage system components and associated control systems.

Responsibilities

Lead electrical engineering efforts for commercial and utility-scale battery energy storage projects.
Manage electrical design budgets to ensure project targets are met.
Develop single-line/three-line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, panel schedules, and protection drawings.
Specify and integrate PCS, BMS, and EMS; coordinate interconnection facilities.
Oversee staff and coordinate with project managers on change orders and RFP responses.
Coordinate with other disciplines and ensure compliance with codes and standards.
Supervise, mentor, and train junior engineers and designers.
