Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead system design, implementation, and release to manufacturing for advanced robotics platforms. The role demands expertise in analog/digital circuits, power electronics, and full system ownership, with the ability to guide a team of Electrical Engineers.

Qualifications

• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures.
• Expert in schematic entry, layout tools and design for manufacturability (OrCAD Capture and Cadence Allegro familiarity is a plus).
• Experience designing high-volume PCBs with design-for-cost targets.
• Experience designing complex schematics with analog and digital electronics including FPGAs, microcontrollers or microprocessors.
• Experience with mixed signal designs and serial interfaces (CAN, SPI, Ethernet, USB).
• Proficient with PSPICE for analog circuit simulation.

Responsibilities

• Architecting, designing and implementing complex embedded systems and analog/digital circuit design.
• Leading and supporting a technical team on multiple projects in parallel.
• Coordinate all activities within the engineering discipline for the project and ensure cross-discipline coordination.
• Develop functional specifications, design verification plans and test procedures.
• Support product releases to manufacturing and customer deployments.
• Establish development processes meeting IEC 61508 functional safety standards.

Amazon is seeking a talented and motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to work on system design, implementation and release to manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in system design, complex analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, possess good communication skills, own a large component of a system, and lead a team of Electrical Engineers. This candidate must have the ability to work well both independently and in a team setting.

Key job responsibilities

• Working with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including design, prototyping, validation, testing and certification
• Leading and supporting a technical team on multiple projects in parallel
• Coordinate all activities within the engineering discipline for the project.
• Ensure coordination with other disciplines is effective for each project.
• Thorough understanding of technical principles and concepts in Electrical Engineering
• Writing and developing functional specifications, design verification plans and test procedures
• Architecting, designing and implementing complex embedded system, analog and digital circuit design and systems debugging
• Supporting product releases to manufacturing and customer deployments
• Execute tasks to tight schedules
• Establish development processes to meet industry standards for functionally safe control systems (IEC 61508).

Basic Qualifications

• Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
• Expert in schematic entry, layout tools and design for manufacturability (familiarity with OrCAD Capture and Cadence Allegro tool flow is a plus)
• Experience designing high volume printed circuit boards with design-for-cost targets
• Experience designing complex schematics containing analog and digital electronics including boards with FPGA’s, microcontrollers or microprocessors.
• Experience with mixed signal designs
• Experience with serial communication interfaces (CAN, SPI, Ethernet, USB, etc.).
• Proficient with PSPICE for analog circuit simulation
• Demonstrated strong ability to move seamlessly between levels of abstraction – from system to the “nuts and bolts” implementation
• Extensive system design interfacing to a wide array of electro-mechanical subsystems and debugging experience
• Commitment to rigorous testing practices and design process flows

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
• Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
• Experience with the project management of technical projects
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Excellent written (white papers) and oral communication skills
• Ability to support domestic and international travel as required by the program
• Experience applying IEC 60204 and/or IEC 61508 machinery safety standards preferred
• Experience designing, developing and certifying safety rated hardware systems is desirable
• Experience troubleshooting and resolving EMI/EMC issues

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
