Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking a talented Electrical Engineer to join our robotics systems team. You will work on system design, analog/digital circuit design, and power electronics to deliver hardware for autonomous automation at scale.

You will collaborate with inter-disciplinary teams from concept to production, write specifications, support manufacturing, and help ensure safety and reliability of complex embedded systems throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with functional specifications and design verification.
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams on product design from concept to production.
  • Experience with hardware testing, PCB layout, and data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Work with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including design, prototyping, validation, testing and certification
  • Support a technical team on multiple projects in parallel
  • Coordinate all activities within the engineering discipline for the project
  • Ensure coordination with other disciplines is effective for each project
  • Understand technical principles and concepts in Electrical Engineering
  • Write and develop functional specifications, design verification plans and test procedures
  • Design and implement complex embedded system, analog and digital circuit design and systems debugging
  • Support product releases to manufacturing and customer deployments
  • Execute tasks to tight schedules
  • Establish development processes to meet industry standards for functionally safe control systems (IEC 61508)

Amazon is seeking a talented and motivated Electrical Engineer to work on system design, implementation and release to manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have experience in system design, complex analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, possess good communication skills, and own a large component of a system. This candidate must have the ability to work well both independently and in a team setting.

Key job responsibilities
  • Working with an interdisciplinary team to execute product designs from concept to production including design, prototyping, validation, testing and certification
  • Supporting a technical team on multiple projects in parallel

  • Supporting product releases to manufacturing and customer deployments
  • Execute tasks to tight schedules
  • Establish development processes to meet industry standards for functionally safe control systems (IEC 61508).
Basic Qualifications
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
  • BS degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
  • Experience testing hardware/mechanical sub-components, research and data analysis skills, and/or Printed Circuit Board (PCB) layout best practices
  • Experience with general troubleshooting/debugging of hardware, or experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
  • Experience with DFx (Design for cost, test, manufacturing)
  • 5+ years of hardware engineering experience
  • Expert in schematic entry, layout tools and design for manufacturability (familiarity with OrCAD Capture and Cadence Allegro tool flow is a plus)
  • Experience designing complex schematics containing analog and digital electronics including boards with FPGA’s, microcontrollers or microprocessors.
  • Experience with mixed signal designs
  • Experience with serial communication interfaces (CAN, SPI, Ethernet, USB, etc.).
  • Proficient with PSPICE for analog circuit simulation
  • System design interfacing to a wide array of electro‑mechanical subsystems and debugging experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience understanding needs of business and end customers and translating them into right solutions
  • Experience identifying and resolving complex issues
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
  • Ability to support domestic and international travel as required by the program
  • Experience applying IEC 60204 and/or IEC 61508 machinery safety standards preferred
  • Experience designing, developing and certifying safety rated hardware systems is desirable
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving EMI/EMC issues

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
