We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of electrical systems for our automated sorting equipment. In this role, you will be responsible for machine-level electrical architecture, including power distribution, control panels, safety circuits, component selection, and controls integration. You will apply your expertise in electrical design to develop robust power and control systems that support high-speed motors, drives, sensors, and automation equipment while ensuring compliance with UL, CSA, NEC, IEC, and CE standards.

Working closely with mechanical, software, manufacturing, and field engineering teams, you will take ownership of projects from concept through commissioning, helping deliver reliable, efficient, and innovative industrial systems to customers around the world.

What You Will Do:

  • Support electrical and control system designs for automated sorting systems.
  • Redesign or replace obsolete or unmaintainable PCB and system components.
  • Debug and resolve electrical, PCB, and system‑level performance issues.
  • Create and maintain assembly instructions, wiring documentation, and technical drawings.
Project & Operational Support
  • Estimate work effort and meet delivery deadlines while keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Work within quoted pricing proposals and cost constraints.
  • Identify and resolve performance, reliability, and operational challenges.
  • Manage and resolve escalated technical or operational issues.
  • Report project status, risks, and progress to Engineering and Project Managers.
Quality, Compliance & Documentation
  • Conduct and support quality assurance and functional testing to verify system performance.
  • Review and approve engineering work products, including drawings and design packages.
  • Maintain revision control and engineering data using ECN/ECO procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable electrical, safety, and international standards (UL, CSA, NEC, IEC, CE).
  • Communicate effectively within engineering teams and across departments including Manufacturing, Quality, and Operations.
  • Provide technical feedback to support system functionality and performance decisions.
  • Support field installations, commissioning, and troubleshooting as needed.
What You Will Need:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience (7+ years).
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical engineering or related roles.
  • 3+ years of hands‑on PCB design and debugging experience.
  • Experience with complex electromechanical and automated systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with PLC‑based control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and system‑level design skills.
  • Experience supporting production‑ready designs and manufacturing environments.
What You Will Have:
  • Experience with Altium Designer for PCB development.
  • Familiarity with SYSPRO or similar ERP systems for BOM management.
  • Knowledge of Allen‑Bradley, Schneider, ABB, or Siemens control products.
  • Understanding of industrial networking protocols (Ethernet TCP/IP, EtherCAT, Modbus).
  • Experience with VFDs and motor control systems.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, UL508A, and industrial control panel standards.
  • Experience with SolidWorks Electrical or DraftSight.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
