This role will be responsible for end-to-end electrical engineering for some of the region’s most complex building system solutions. Responsibilities
Lead and Strategize in MEP System Design:
- Drive the conceptualization and feasibility analysis of complex and innovative MEP systems, anticipating future trends and client needs.
- Establish design standards and best practices for the electrical engineering team, ensuring consistency and quality across projects.
- Take ownership of the overall electrical system design strategy for significant projects, ensuring alignment with architectural, structural, and other disciplines.
- Present and defend complex design solutions to clients and stakeholders with confidence and authority.
- Oversee and mentor teams in performing calculations and producing construction documents, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
Elevated General Responsibilities:
- Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key industry partners, clients, and vendors, acting as a trusted advisor.
- Assume ultimate responsibility for the successful delivery of projects, including managing complex budgets, schedules, and resources.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight for project management processes, identifying and implementing improvements.
- Serve as a key mentor and technical leader for the electrical engineering department, fostering the growth and development of junior and mid-level engineers. This includes conducting performance reviews and identifying training needs.
- Proactively identify and respond to evolving project and business needs, developing strategic solutions and contingency plans.
- Lead and facilitate effective team collaboration, while also possessing the autonomy and experience to make high-level decisions independently.
- Contribute to business development efforts, such as identifying new opportunities, assisting with proposal development, and participating in client presentations.
- Represent the company's technical expertise in external forums, such as industry conferences or technical committees.
- Champion quality control and risk management strategies for electrical engineering deliverables.
- Potentially manage a team or department of electrical engineers, including hiring, performance management, and workload distribution.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of company-wide technical policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Education and Licensure:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in in relevant field of engineering (Electrical)
- Professional Engineering (PE) License required.
Experience:
- Minimum 8-10+ years of progressive experience in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) system engineering
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing engineering projects from conceptualization through construction and commissioning.
- Experience in various building types and sectors (e.g., commercial, healthcare, industrial, residential).
Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD and Revit, including the ability to develop and implement BIM (Building Information Modeling) workflows and standards.
- Expertise in Bluebeam Revu for advanced document management, markups, and collaboration.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- In-depth knowledge and application of relevant codes and standards (e.g., IBC, IMC, ASHRAE standards).
- Specialized knowledge in one or more key MEP areas, such as HVAC design, plumbing systems, fire protection, energy modeling, sustainable design principles (LEED, WELL), or commissioning.
- Experience with energy analysis software and life cycle cost analysis.
Leadership and Management Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and design teams.
- Experience in project management, including developing project scopes, budgets, schedules, and managing resources effectively.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for collaborating with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to make critical engineering decisions and solve complex problems independently.
- Experience in business development activities, such as assisting with proposals and client presentations
Other Desirable Qualifications:
- Relevant certifications beyond the PE license (e.g., LEED AP, CEM, CPD).
- Active participation in professional organizations.
- Published papers or presentations in the field.
- Experience with contract negotiation and administration.
