Job summary

Mangan Inc. is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to develop and stamp electrical power packages for authority plan checks. You will perform load studies, field verification, and commissioning for projects in the Sugar Land, TX area.

Required are 10+ years in electrical construction, a PE or FE progression, and strong NEC knowledge. Occasional travel up to 25% is expected as part of project execution.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years in electrical construction and specification packages.
  • Ability to stamp by a PE for authority plan checks.
  • Familiarity with NEC, IEEE 3000 Series, API 500 (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Develop electrical power load studies.
  • Create electrical power construction packages for PE stamping.
  • Prepare power bills of material and coordinate with vendors.
  • Perform field verification walkdowns of E&I infrastructure.
  • Conduct factory acceptance testing on electrical power equipment.
  • Lead start-up and commissioning, including E&I troubleshooting.
  • Review project docs for quality and accuracy of study reports.
  • Provide after-hours support for clients as needed.
  • Collaborate with Project Manager(s) on deliverables, budgets, and changes.
  • Assist in developing cost estimates and proposals for opportunities.

Job description

Key Experience & Skills
  • 10+ years’ experience in the development of comprehensive electrical construction and specification packages suitable to be stamped by a Professional Engineer and submitted for authority plan check, comprised of at least the following:
  • Grounding
  • Conduit and cable schedules
  • Construction specifications
  • Equipment and installation details
  • Additional experience in the following drawings preferred:
  • Area classification drawings
  • Knowledgeable of the requirements detailed in National Electrical Code (NEC), IEEE 3000 Series (formerly known as color books), and API 500 (preferred)
  • Adept at the use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Expertise with power system modeling tools – ETAP or SKMpreferred
  • Expertise in arc flash analysis, short circuit analysis, and protective coordination
  • Experience in load flow, motor starting, and harmonics preferred.
  • Experience with electrical power relay settings generation and implementation – GE Multilin and SEL preferred
  • Highly effective at written and verbal communications
Education
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam Completion
  • Professional Engineer (Electrical) Certification Preferred
Responsibilities
  • Development of electrical power load studies
  • Development of comprehensive electrical power construction packages sufficient to be stamped by a Professional Engineer and submitted for authority plan check
  • Development of electrical power bills of material and coordinate with vendors for procured equipment pricing
  • Execute field verification walkdowns, including as-building existing Electrical and E&I infrastructure
  • Execute factory acceptance testing on electrical power equipment
  • Execute start-up and commissioning, including electrical power and E&I troubleshooting as required
  • Provide quality control and review of project documentation, including power system study reports, drawing packages, and equipment specifications/approval packages
  • Provide best possible response after hours support for internal/external clients as occurs
  • Work with applicable Project Manager(s) to ensure overall quality of commercial deliverables, budget maintenance, etc. Keep the Project Manager(s) informed of technical progress, issues, need for change orders, etc.
  • Assist Project Manager(s) in developing cost estimates and proposals for new project opportunities – providing technical expertise and guidance in applying cost to labor, expense, and procurement items
  • Travel +/- 25% with willingness to travel via air
