Position Overview: Senior Electrical Engineer
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead, evaluate, design, and engineer complex projects and systems from conceptual design through construction. You'll serve as a key design professional within multidisciplinary project teams, provide technical leadership, and help resolve engineering challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
This position is ideal for an experienced PE-licensed engineer who enjoys remaining technically involved while taking on greater project leadership, client interaction, and mentorship responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and engineering of systems for new design-build and facility rehabilitation projects
- Serve as a design professional during project team design meetings
- Prepare complex preliminary redline design layouts to support project estimating
- Perform complex engineering calculations and evaluate equipment and system requirements
- Evaluate design alternatives and develop effective solutions to complex engineering challenges
- Perform site inspections to verify compliance with construction documents
- Resolve design and engineering issues during the construction phase
- Lead and supervise less-experienced engineers on small and large projects
- Provide ongoing technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams
- Collaborate with clients, general contractors, engineers, and multidisciplinary project teams throughout project delivery
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 8+ years of engineering experience, including lead experience
- Strong knowledge of applicable building systems design and system operations
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering and construction plans
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with employees, clients, general contractors, and other project stakeholders
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills
- Excellent computer skills, including CADD and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership and mentoring less-experienced engineers
