Job summary

Genesis AEC, Medford, MA, seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead facility-level electrical design for medium/high voltage systems. You will manage teams, coordinate with clients and operations, and ensure compliant, safe, and efficient power, lighting, and control solutions.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years of experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency in SKM Power*Tools, MS Office, and AutoCAD/REVIT. Hybrid schedule available in the Boston/Cambridge area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7–10+ years of electrical design and building systems experience.
• Proficiency in SKM Power*Tools, MS Office, and Adobe Pro/Blue Beam.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Own facility-level electrical design for 35kV and below, including power, lighting, and controls.
• Lead project teams of electrical engineers and designers.
• Manage scope and budgets from conception to operation.
• Conduct infrastructure assessments, master planning, and surveys.
• Coordinate with engineers, architects, clients, and contractors.
• Perform load, short-circuit, coordination, and arc-flash studies.
• Write equipment specs per standards and vendor requirements.
• Review submittals, respond to RFIs, and create punch lists.
• Provide mentorship to junior staff.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Ensure responsibilityfor facility-level electrical design and engineering for medium-voltage and low-voltage systems (35kV and below), including power distribution systems, emergency generators, UPS systems, lighting fixtures and controls, fire alarm systems, and motor controls.
• Manage project teams of electrical engineers and designers
• Manage project scope and budgets, from conception through successful operation
• Conduct facility infrastructure assessments, infrastructure/utility master planning, field surveys, and code and energy evaluations.
• Coordinate with other discipline engineers, architects, client representation, facility operation personnel, and contractors
• Using computer-based programs, perform electrical system calculations, including load analysis, short circuit calculations, protective device coordination studies, and arc flash studies.
• Write equipment specifications, based on company standards, and as coordinated with specific client and equipment vendor requirements.
• Review equipment submittals and shop drawings; prepare responses to contractor RFI’s; and create punch lists based on field observation.
• Provide mentorship or leadership to junior designers and/or engineers

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or other related discipline
• 7 - 10+ years of relevant experience in electrical design and engineering, focused on building systems
• Proficiency in SKM Power*Tools software, MS Office, and Adobe Professional / Blue Beam
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize multiple projects, and adjust work against tight deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Life Science, and Laboratory industries, healthcare, micro-electronic, or electronic clean room experience is desirable
• A focus on mission-critical data centers or hospitals, plus other relevant industries
• AutoCAD / REVIT experience is preferred.
• P.E. registration, or a path to receiving it
• Ability to assist with business development by nurturing relationships with clients and writing proposals
• Ability to lead in-house training seminars
