Job summary

Ellaway Blues Consulting seeks an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to oversee the electrical design and execution of complex industrial and petrochemical projects. The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of design and construction experience in industrial power distribution, hands-on ETAP/SKM knowledge, and a proven ability to lead project teams from concept through commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5+ years of electrical engineering design and construction experience in petrochemical or similar industrial environments.
• Strong industrial power distribution experience across LV and MV systems.
• Hands-on experience with ETAP and/or SKM PowerTools.
• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, API, NEMA, and PIP standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or SmartPlant Electrical is a plus.
• Texas PE license is preferred; prior leadership of engineers or project teams is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise electrical engineering project teams and day-to-day execution activities.
• Manage project scope, quality, schedules, budgets, and execution planning.
• Design and specify industrial power distribution systems from 120V through 35kV.
• Develop and review one-line diagrams, load lists, data sheets, motor schematics, and electrical design packages.
• Perform cable sizing, load evaluations, and equipment rating calculations.
• Support power system studies including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, relay coordination, and arc flash analysis.
• Specify electrical equipment and support procurement from RFQ development through PO award.
• Coordinate engineering deliverables across multiple projects while managing cost and schedule requirements.
• Identify scope changes and support project change management.
• Support proposal development and prepare engineering man-hour estimates.

Lead Electrical Engineer - Industrial/Petrochemical

We are partnering with an established engineering organization seeking an experienced Lead Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design and project execution for complex industrial and petrochemical projects.

This position is ideal for an electrical engineer who combines strong industrial power distribution design experience with the ability to lead project teams, manage engineering deliverables, and oversee projects from initial design through execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise electrical engineering project teams and day-to-day execution activities
• Manage project scope, quality, schedules, budgets, and execution planning
• Design and specify industrial power distribution systems ranging from 120V through 35kV
• Develop and review one-line diagrams, load lists, data sheets, motor schematics, and electrical design packages
• Perform and review cable sizing, load evaluations, and equipment rating calculations
• Support power system studies including load flow, short circuit, motor starting, relay coordination, and arc flash analysis
• Specify electrical equipment and support procurement from RFQ development through purchase order award
• Coordinate engineering deliverables across multiple projects while managing cost and schedule requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of electrical engineering design and construction experience within petrochemical or similar industrial environments
• Strong industrial power distribution experience across LV and MV systems
• Hands-on experience with ETAP and/or SKM PowerTools
• Strong understanding of applicable industrial codes and standards including NEC, IEEE, API, NEMA, and PIP
• Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or SmartPlant Electrical is a plus
• Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred
• Previous experience leading engineers, designers, or project execution teams strongly preferred
