Position Overview
A growing engineering consulting organization supporting energy and industrial infrastructure projects is seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer with experience in power distribution and industrial facilities. This role focuses on electrical design and analysis for projects within the energy, oil & gas, and heavy industrial sectors. The selected candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary project teams to develop electrical system designs, perform technical analyses, and support projects through engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience with industrial power systems and is comfortable working on projects that involve complex electrical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review electrical power system designs including low, medium, and high voltaged distribution systems
- Prepare engineering deliverables such as:
- Load calculations and studies
- Grounding and lighting plans
- Equipment specifications
- Support electrical design for industrial facilities such as pipelines, processing plants, terminals, refineries, and related infrastructure
- Perform or review power system studies including short circuit, load flow, arc flash, and protection coordination
- Specify and evaluate electrical equipment including switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, VFDs, generators, and UPS systems
- Ensure engineering work complies with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Provide technical support during procurement, construction, commissioning, and system startup activities
- Coordinate with project managers and engineering teams across multiple disciplines
- Review vendor documentation and technical submittals
- Assist with project schedules, budgets, and quality assurance processes
- Promote safe work practices and compliance with project and industry safety standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program
- 5–12 years of professional electrical engineering experience
- Experience supporting energy, oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial projects strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of industrial power distribution systems
- Experience with electrical modeling or analysis software such as: ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower
- Familiarity with applicable U.S. electrical codes and industry standards
- Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced project environment
- Willingness to work onsite in Houston, Texas
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting construction or field engineering activities
- Interest in power systems and energy infrastructure
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, or ability to obtain
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
