Job summary

Miller-Remick LLC is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design on capital projects across markets, with a strong healthcare focus. This role involves mentoring junior staff and delivering complete construction documents while coordinating with multi-discipline teams.

The candidate will oversee load calculations, equipment sizing, and adherence to codes, using Revit/AutoCAD and related tools. Travel to client sites is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • PE license required.
  • 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering design for MEP/building systems.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, IBC, IECC, IEEE standards and local codes.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading project teams preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical design and coordination of MEP projects from concept through construction administration.
  • Develop complete electrical construction documents including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, lighting, grounding, low-voltage, and emergency power systems.
  • Develop single-line diagrams, riser diagrams, and electrical room layouts.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, short-circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, arc flash studies, and equipment sizing.
  • Design branch power, lighting, emergency power, and lighting control systems in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Coordinate electrical systems with mechanical, plumbing, structural, architectural, and civil disciplines for coordinated project delivery.
  • Conduct site surveys, field investigations, and existing conditions assessments.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and drafting/design staff.
  • Attend client meetings, design coordination meetings, and construction progress meetings.
  • Evaluate contractor submittals, RFIs, change orders, and shop drawings for technical compliance.
  • Provide construction administration support including site observations, punch lists, and issue resolution.
  • Develop project specifications, basis of design narratives, and technical reports.
  • Utilize Revit, AutoCAD, SKM, Visual Lighting, and other engineering software for design and analysis.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline project team of internal and external architects and engineers to ensure successful project execution and client satisfaction.

Miller-Remick is a full-service MEP engineering firm looking for energetic, self-motivated, and innovative individuals to join our team. If you think you are a good fit for this role, we encourage you to apply.

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to act as lead on multiple concurrent capital projects ranging from $5M - $100M across a variety of markets, with a strong focus on healthcare. This person should have a proven history of performing complex work with efficiency and little oversight, and have the aptitude to mentor and provide guidance to more junior staff. This position may be filled anywhere in the United States.

Our clients include federal agencies (e.g. Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, General Services Administration, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons), as well as state and local governments. Projects have varied degrees of complexity and a wide range of estimated construction costs and include new construction and renovations of hospitals, healthcare and military facilities, federal office buildings and courthouses, state and local government buildings, research laboratories, corrections facilities and site utility infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the electrical design and coordination of commercial, healthcare, and industrial MEP projects from concept through construction administration.

  • Familiarity with electrical analysis and lighting software such as SKM and Visual Lighting preferred.
  • Understanding of construction documents and engineering design processes.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineering staff and leading project teams preferred.
  • Experience in hospitals and healthcare, military bases, government buildings and courthouses, research laboratories, central steam and chilled water plants, corrections facilities, and/or site utility infrastructure highly valued
  • Travel to client sites as required.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $110,000 - $165,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors, including experience, qualifications, education, certifications and licensure.
