And we’ve created a culture here that cares just as deeply about the career you’re building. Ours is a no ego culture of collaboration and innovation where those seeking their next challenge can find big opportunities and make a huge impact on the lives of all those who we protect. We don’t just want you to work here. We want you to grow and thrive here.

We’re embracing a hybrid work model that enables our teams to split their time between office and home. Hybrid for us means we expect our teams to come together in our state-of-the-art office on two core days, typically Tuesday and Wednesday, to work together in person, and teams can choose where they work for the remainder of the week. We all benefit from flexibility and get to use the best of both worlds to get our work done.

Why are we hiring?

Well, we’re growing and thriving. SimpliSafe is at the forefront of the consumer home security market and we’re developing the next generation of products that will amaze our customers and drive our growth. Our vertically integrated team builds the hardware, firmware, cloud services and mobile applications that make up the SimpliSafe ecosystem of security products our customers love. We need smart, talented, and humble people who share our values to join us as we disrupt the home security space and relentlessly pursue our mission of keeping Every Home Secure.

What You’ll Do

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to sustain and enhance our existing hardware products - including base stations, cameras, and sensors. In this role, your expertise will be key to maintaining and improving the reliability of fielded products. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical and electrical engineering, manufacturing operations, sourcing, and product management, to ensure our devices perform at the highest level while continually seeking opportunities to reduce cost. A strong focus will be placed on battery efficiency and RF performance. You will work proactively to ensure these areas are not only preserved but continuously improved. Your work will span the entire system, from sensors to communications, developing innovative solutions that enhance reliability, performance, and manufacturability. The ideal candidate is deeply passionate about delivering exceptional user experiences, has a strong customer-first mindset, and brings expert-level knowledge of electrical engineering and consumer hardware development.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Update and improve existing products to enhance reliability, address component constraints and reduce end-to-end product cost.
  • Troubleshoot customer returns, identify root causes of failures, and develop corrective actions to be implemented at our contract manufacturing partners.
  • Periodically review product performance and design, proposing innovative solutions to reduce costs and improve product performance.
  • Support overseas manufacturing partners in resolving technical issues and ensuring smooth production.
  • Redesign products as needed to eliminate components impacted by supply chain constraints and qualify second source alternatives to ensure continuity.
  • Own and drive continuous improvement efforts across existing products, balancing performance, cost, and manufacturability.
  • Oversee prototype development and testing, including designing test strategies to validate product performance and resolve issues.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, sensors, and manufacturing processes to inform product design and innovation.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, helping them to develop their skills and advance their careers.
  • Drive programs forward with a reasonable sense of urgency.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience, with at least 4 years on consumer products.
  • Strong schematic capture and PCB layout experience.
  • Experience in embedded systems design including design with UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet, SDIO, MIPI, etc.
  • Experience with RF technologies including Sub-GHz, WiFi and BLE.
  • Knowledge of high-speed rules, PCB stackups up to 8 layers, and layout rules to mitigate EMI and experience with small pitch IC packages (i.e. BGA).
  • Optimizing designs for very low power usage (frequently < 1uA).
  • Experience working together with product management to understand the data-driven “why” and to be the voice of the customer.
  • Experience working with global suppliers and manufacturing partners.
  • Strong communication, EQ, and leadership skills, with the ability to guide and mentor junior engineers.
  • Startup experience along with a scrappy “let’s just build it” philosophy is highly valued.

What Values You’ll Share

  • Customer Obsessed - Building deep empathy for our customers, putting them at the core of our work, and developing strong, long-term relationships with them.
  • Aim High - Always challenging ourselves and others to raise the bar.
  • No Ego - Maintaining a “no job too small” attitude, and an open, inclusive and humble style.
  • One Team - Taking a highly collaborative approach to achieving success.
  • Lift As We Climb - Investing in developing others and helping others around us succeed.
  • Lean & Nimble - Working with agility and efficiency to experiment in an often ambiguous environment.

What We Offer

We want everyone who works here to thrive and contribute to not only our mission of keeping every home secure, but also to making our workplace safe and supportive for others.
