Job description

Senior electrical engineer is responsible for design and integration of balance of plant electrical systems and equipment for onshore wind, solar, and storage development projects in the Americas.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure that the highest level of health, safety, and environmental are incorporated into designs and standards
• Responsible for design of balance of plant packages including transmission, substation, collection, protection, control, and metering systems.
• Responsible for specification and evaluation of balance of plant equipment
• Responsible for grid code compliance and interconnection requirements.
• Responsible for power system modeling and studies
• Develop and maintain the electrical engineering standards
• Support development of engineering processes and procedures
• Innovate and reduce levelized cost of energy of operating assets
• Support the regulatory and compliance processes and requirements

Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years work experience in electrical balance of plant design, construction, and/or operations in commercial power generation and distribution. Experience in offshore renewable generation is preferred. Specific areas of competency shall include should include transmission systems, substation systems, collection and cable systems, major equipment, power system studies, and/or system protection.
• Experience with electrical power equipment and systems associated with wind plants is preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college engineering program
• Advanced degrees can reduce technical experience requirements (Masters = 2 years credit, Doctorate = 3 years credit). Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one state (or ability to obtain within one year).
• The role is principally office based in Austin or Chicago
• There may be occasional travel to other RWE offices in the USA (Chicago, Austin, Valhalla, Boston, or San Francisco)
• There may be occasional travel to project sites.
