Job description

Job Description

At Phoenix Semiconductor, we are pioneering a new approach to solving supply chain disruption due to late-gen, legacy, and mature microelectronic components. Our team is working to produce an extensive catalog of chips for the Department of Defense, automotive, medical, manufacturing, oil & gas, and OEM verticals. Headquartered in Austin, Texas our innovative process is challenging how companies solve obsolescence challenges.

Legacy chips at scale, on demand and in perpetuity.
Rethink what’s possible.

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer with experience in analog and digital design to analyze and replicate the functionality of pre-existing integrated circuits (ICs), as well as mixed-signal and passive components. This role involves evaluating component behavior, identifying critical functional characteristics, and designing replacements that support legacy systems with compatible performance and interfaces.

Responsibilities:

  • Own end-to-end design of complex mixed signal (analog & digital) electronics modules and small systems, from concept and architecture through schematic, layout, test, and production.
  • Responsible for circuit design, test, debug, and fault diagnosis across project lifecycle.
  • Develop bring-up plans and design verification plans for new hardware and systems.
  • Perform bring-up and key verification testing of modules and small integrated systems to complete validation.
  • Release modules and assemblies to production, working with the Manufacturing and Test Engineering teams.
  • Application of DFM&T (Design for Manufacture & Test) best practices.
  • Support internal & customer discussions, maintaining well defined schedules.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to get a US Security clearance / US Citizenship
  • Degree in Electrical, Computer Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in board-level electronics design, analysis, and test.
  • Experience bringing up prototype hardware.
  • Experience doing circuit simulation and analysis using SPICE software.
  • Experience using common lab equipment including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, power supplies and signal generators.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with programmable logic devices.
  • Experience with Cadence OrCAD PCB design tools.
  • Experience with board-level signal integrity and/or power integrity simulation tools.
  • Direct experience designing high-reliability electronics for defense applications, including part derating, worst-case analysis, Monte Carlo analysis and thermal constraints.
  • Experience with recognized standards including MIL standards
  • Experience collaborating with other technical disciplines such as Analog, Mechanical, and RF, Manufacturing and Test engineers.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor packaging design.
  • Experience with programming and/or scripting such as Python.

What We Offer

Competitive salary and benefits package, including:

  • 3 weeks of paid time off
  • 8 observed holidays
  • Comprehensive insurance coverage
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
  • An opportunity to work on mission-critical semiconductor solutions impacting multiple industries and security.
  • A collaborative and innovative culture with diverse and engaging projects.
