Job summary

EDG is seeking a Sr. Distribution Design Technician in Ridgeland, MS to provide distribution engineering design and estimating services for lighting, distribution design projects, and third-party joint use attachments.

The role involves running wind-loading models, coordinating with regulators, and working across teams in a matrix environment. The ideal candidate has over 10 years of related experience, a technical associate degree, and proficiency with GDT, Ike Pole-Foreman, and Maximo.

Qualifications

• Requires HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree preferred; relevant technical coursework welcomed.
• 10+ years of directly related experience.
• GDT and Ike Pole-Foreman experience required.
• Experience with utilities projects and joint-use attachments.
• Ability to understand codes and apply basic mathematics.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed distribution designs and cost estimates tailored to customer needs and timelines for complex projects.
• Run modeling software on poles/equipment to assess wind loading for current and future conditions (GDT, Pole-Foreman, Maximo).
• Coordinate with regulatory bodies for planning, permitting and issue resolution on complex projects.
• Field inspection duties including patrolling distribution lines to assess current state and future needs.
• Keep supervisor apprised of status, issues and needs; follow up on key activities.
• Facilitate interactions with external customers by phone, email, and meetings.
• Provide records for all significant meetings (email).
