Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Senior Electrical Designer III for SDG&E on a 12-month contract. The role is hybrid/onsite as required with 3 days onsite and 2 openings. Pay rate is 70–80 USD/hour.

You will review and quality-check electric distribution designs, coordinate with internal teams and external resources, and ensure compliance with established standards throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in utility design, Designer III experience, strong AutoCAD skills,

Qualifications

• 10+ years of utility design experience.
• Designer III level or equivalent senior utility design position.
• Experience supporting SDG&E electric distribution projects.
• Knowledge of distribution systems (Transformers, primary voltage incl. 12kV).
• QA/QC experience in design reviews.

Responsibilities

• Review and quality-check electric distribution designs for accuracy and compliance with SDG&E standards.
• Coordinate projects from design through approval with internal and external teams.
• Collaborate with distribution engineering teams for system improvements and customer projects.
• Review overhead and underground distribution designs and related infrastructure.
• Verify design packages, calculations, drawings and docs before approval.
• Identify design deficiencies and provide corrective action recommendations.
• Mentor less experienced designers and external resources.
• Interface with stakeholders, construction teams, and third-party firms.
• Ensure designs meet safety, reliability, and operational goals.
