Job summary

Brown and Caldwell, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer in Florida to design low- and medium-voltage power distribution, motor control, and related systems for industrial projects.

The role includes mentoring junior staff, coordinating with civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines, and delivering 2D/3D design packages from concept through construction. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of electrical engineering experience, a PE license (or pursuing), and exposure to SMS frameworks.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience.
• Licensed professional engineer preferred or pursuing licensure.
• SMS Framework certification is common or in progress.

Responsibilities

• Design low-voltage (≤480 V) and medium-voltage (≤15 kV) power distribution systems.
• Oversee conduit, duct bank, and cable tray layout.
• Coordinate lighting systems with other disciplines.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, and mechanical teams.
• Prepare construction specifications for electrical equipment and systems.
• Perform engineering services during construction including submittal reviews and RFIs.
• Carry out short-circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash studies.
• Plan and track electrical scope, schedule, and project budget.
• Flexibly handle additional assignments as needs evolve.
