Job Description
This is Who You Are: Sr Electrical Engineer
- You are an expert electrical design engineer skilled in full life cycle systems and component development. You have a history of effectively leading and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to produce high reliability, high performance electronics. Using your expertise in electrical engineering and engineering first principles, you will be responsible for the design of complex hardware and systems.
- This will include full life cycle design of components, including systems design, capturing component requirements, circuit level component design, component integration, testing, and eventual mass production.
This is What You'll Do:
- You will be responsible for full life cycle design of automotive electronic modules:
- System Level Design - Use your electrical and technological expertise to guide domains in their electrical implementation and component selection of sensors, actuators, video subsystems, and device functional allocations.
- Requirements Definition - Decompose functional requirements into system architectures, and subsequent component requirements and circuit-level decisions.
- Detailed Component Design - Create complete electronic modules from the ground up according to company standards.
- Work with a multidisciplinary team to specify and design the main ADAS compute module for reliable long-term operation in harsh automotive environments.
- Balance thermal design, compute performance, and reliability by melding commercial and automotive design methodologies.
- Coordinate with packaging and CAE engineers to ensure designs meet space, durability, and endurance requirements, including full design documentation, failure analysis, WCCA, derating analysis, and test reports.
- Software and Systems Integration - Collaborate with software teams to define hardware-level software requirements.
- Ensure software functions correctly at all levels of the stack, both on the bench and in the system, working with software, integration, and release engineers.
- Test and Validation - Work with Test and Validation engineers to ensure your components meet Rivian's rigorous standards, troubleshooting and resolving failures during validation.
- Mass Production - Coordinate with Contract Manufacturers to complete PFMEA and meet KPIs, ensuring manufacturability in volume, and assist in troubleshooting manufacturing issues.
This is what you'll need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in full life cycle development
- Expertise in Mixed Signal design methodologies
- Experience in High Speed design methodologies, DDR PCIe, SI/PI
- Experience in BMS design and knowledge of PCB manufacturing and design processes
- Ability to work in fast-paced, challenging environments
- Experience leading multidisciplinary groups
