Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our client team. This role is focused on the conceptual design, component specification, system hardware design, and programming of state-of-the-art packaging machinery. You will lead high-level projects from concept to production and will work closely with engineers, technical staff, and field service teams to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems and automation solutions.

The role involves designing, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems for high-speed automation packaging machines. You will also provide engineering support for field service technicians and offer technical training to clients as needed. Occasional domestic (up to 20%) and potential international travel may be required for customer support and installations.

Responsibilities:

• Design, program, and troubleshoot high-speed automation packaging machinery by applying electrical and electronic theory.
• Lead and manage projects from inception to design, prototype, testing, and production phases.
• Design complete electrical systems, including schematics and control systems for packaging machines.
• Develop and test new packaging machine designs, ensuring reliability and efficiency.
• Program and troubleshoot ladder logic in motion control systems, including servo drive programming (Allen Bradley).
• Collaborate with engineers and technical staff to resolve technical challenges and meet project requirements.
• Provide engineering support for field service technicians for troubleshooting and hardware/software repairs or installations at customer sites.
• Deliver technical training to customers to ensure proper operation of machinery and systems.
• Create wiring schematics, program diagrams, and bill of materials for packaging machines.
• Travel to customer locations for installations, repairs, and support (approximately 20% domestic travel; international travel may be required).
• Perform additional duties as needed to support product development and company goals.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience in capital equipment design and service.
• 7-10 years of experience in high-speed automation and electrical design, specifically within the packaging industry (preferred).
• Proficient in CAD software for electrical design documentation, including SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD, or similar systems.
• Expertise in designing and troubleshooting Stepper motors, Servo motors, and touch screen-controlled machinery.
• Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC systems and motion control integration.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while adhering to deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 20% (domestic and potential international travel).
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
