Job summary

HDR in Minnesota seeks a Senior Electrical Technical Specialist to perform engineering tasks under a licensed engineer, design using CAD, and prepare construction documents. You will develop design calculations, specifications, and contract materials while coordinating with multiple disciplines.

The role requires extensive industry-standard knowledge, strong communication, and a proactive, team-oriented attitude in our employee-owned culture. Full-time on-site position in Saint Louis Park, MN.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in engineering or related field or equivalent work experience.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary environments.
• Aptitude and hands-on experience with computer applications for the discipline.
• Extensive knowledge of industry standards for the discipline.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering assignments under the direct supervision of a licensed engineer.
• Design tasks involving judgment in evaluating, selecting and applying engineering techniques.
• Produce design drawings and construction documents using CAD and design software.
• Prepare design and quantity calculations and contract documents.
• Coordinate with other disciplines as necessary and supervise other Technical Specialists when required.
• Prepare specifications and contract documents.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervising engineer.

In the role of Senior Electrical Technical Specialist, we'll count on you to:

• Perform engineering assignments under the direct supervision of a licensed engineer
• Design tasks involving judgment in evaluating, selecting and applying engineering techniques and procedures
• Production of design drawings and construction documents through the use of computer aided design and other design software
• Preparation of design and quantity calculations
• Preparation of specifications and contract documents
• Other duties as assigned by the supervising engineer
• Coordination with other disciplines as necessary
• When required, coordinate the work of one or more Technical Specialists

Preferred Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in engineering or related field of study or equivalent work experience
• A minimum of 15 years of engineering experience in the discipline to be supported
• Aptitude and demonstrated hands-on experience with computer applications specific to the discipline to be supported
• Extensive knowledge of industry standards specific to the discipline being supported
• Proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary environments
• Proficient with Microsoft Office
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
