Job summary

Sealed Air Corporation in the United States seeks an Electrical Controls & Sustaining Senior Engineer to own the electrical controls lifecycle for key packaging equipment, from commercialization through sustaining support. You will design, troubleshoot, and improve PLC/HMI, servo, and motion control systems across Rotary Chamber Vacuum Machines, Tunnels, and Bag Loaders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
• 5–7 years designing, troubleshooting, and supporting industrial automation and controls
• Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, drives, motion control, and servo systems
• Experience programming and debugging industrial control systems in real-world environments
• Experience with control platforms such as Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Omron, Mitsubishi
• Ability to read and develop electrical schematics and BOMs
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
• Experience with automated manufacturing equipment; customer-site experience is a plus
• Experience with packaging equipment valued; other automation allowed
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 79, UL, CE safety standards
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration; travel ~20%

Responsibilities

• Own lifecycle engineering for assigned equipment from commercialization to sustaining support
• Design, modify, debug, and maintain PLC, HMI, servo, VFD, and motion control systems
• Investigate complex electrical issues; perform root cause analysis; implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
• Support testing, commissioning, field validation, and engineering investigations
• Develop and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, BOMs, and docs
• Lead ECOs, replacements, obsolescence, and lifecycle changes
• Use controller logic and field data to diagnose issues
• Provide advanced technical support to service reps and field personnel
• Drive reliability, standardization, and cost-reduction initiatives
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers for manufacturability and safety
